Learn-piano

Have you ever wanted to learn the piano?

Do you think it might be too hard, too time-consuming or worst yet, too late?

You’ve come to the right place.

While learning piano can see like a very time-consuming task, it doesn’t have to be.

Here’s how you can learn piano within 5 minutes.

In Order to Learn Piano, You Need a Piano Teacher

However, it’s not just as simple as hiring the first piano teacher you find.

Here’s how to pick out the right teacher to help you learn piano:

  • What Kind of Music Do I Want to Learn? If you like pop music but you hire a classic pianist as your teacher, you may not enjoy the lessons. Find a teacher who is willing to teach you using the type of music you want to play.
  • What Learning Method Will Work Best? You can learn to play by ear, memorise music, read music or by number. Which method will work best for you and which method(s) does your teacher use?
  • How Do You Thrive? Do you like a disciplinarian or perhaps someone who prefers using gentle encouragement. Pick someone who will get the best out of you.
  • Where Will They Teach You? Do you want someone who can come to your home to learn piano or do you have the time to travel to them?

Once you’ve picked your teacher, you can.

Learn Piano By Learning Your Keys

Each piano contains 88 keys.

That may seem like a lot but really you only need to know 12.

There are 12 keys in each group. Some are black. Some are white keys.

The white keys contain the notes: C, D, E, F, G, A, and B

The black keys are sharps and flats.

A note is considered sharp when the black key is to the right of the white key.

And it’s flat when it’s to the left.

Learn Piano By Learning Your Chords

Luckily there are only 2 chords to learn: Major and Minor.

A major chord is when the finger position is 1,2,3,4 and then 1,2,3.

A minor chord is when the finger position is 1,2,3 and then 1,2,3,4.

Great. You’ve got the basics down.

Now here are some helpful hints to make you sound like decent.

Learn Piano by Practicing

There’s the old adage, how do you get to Carnegie Hall?

Practice. Practice. Practice.

But there are a few other tips that will help you learn piano quickly.

  • Start by Using One Hand: It may take awhile to get used to playing both hands. Start out with one and when you master that, incorporate your other hand. Your brain will thank you for it.
  • Play Slowly: The slower you practice the piece, the easier it will be for you to master it. When you learn piano, slow and steady is the pace you want to set.
  • Break Piece Down: Rather than tackling a whole new song all at once, break it down into smaller, more manageable chunks. This will be easier and much less intimidating for you to master a new piece.
  • Repeat Until Mastered: The more you work at a piece, the easier it will be to play. The better you will play the piece and the better that piece will sound.
  • Play Every Day: Even practicing 5 minutes every single day will do more for you than 30 minutes three times per week. Dedication is the key to success.
